Eliot Ness: The Real Story

I interviewed Paul Heimel in 2003 after reading his bio of  our hero, Eliot Ness: The Real Story. The rolling roads to Coudersport, PA led Brody and me not only to Paul’s beautiful home and a gander at his substantial collection of Ness research and memorabilia – we also got a chance to see where Ness met an untimely death. Though Ness hit hard times through bad investments, he is said to have enjoyed warm familial comfort with his wife Elisabeth and their adopted son Robert.

Eliot Ness was taken down by distilled evil. In researching and confronting the high levels of strangeness and intrigue in the Torso Murders case, I always found my own comfort and refuge in knowing about Ness’ family.

I felt I touched it in Coudersport, thanks to Paul.
