Third in the Lakewood Library True Crime Cleveland series is Emmy-nominated episode #107 in Storytellers’ Doris O’Donnell’s Cleveland. Entitled “Disorganized Crime,” the program surveys the history of  the Cleveland Mob. Featured interviews include Rick Porrello, the brains behind Danny Greene’s story – To Kill the Irishman – which is the basis for a bio-pic currently in post-production. Porrello actually lost four – rather Mobbed-up – great uncles in Cleveland’s Corn and Sugar Wars during Prohibition.

But the bigger story is that of Angelo “Big Ange” Lonardo, a local don who violated omerta, and the whole national House of Mob came tumbling down. Another retired CPD commander interviewed for the show is Bob Cermak, who worked a very hush-hush unit that surrounded and pounced on Lonardo, and who I am proud to say is a fellow Trustee of the Cleveland Police Historical Society & Museum.

Runs about 28 minutes – Hope to see you there!
