I read with some dismay that my alma mater – ideastream – let go about 8% of it’s staff. Like with the Plain Dealer, and other media outlets with or without a hekuva Cleveland legacy, twentieth century media business models are collapsing under their own weight. Even disaffected refugees from Cleveland MSM – most of them that I know, anyway – take no pleasure at how these sea changes affect our friends & colleagues.
So it’s not Schadenfreude many of us feel – more like what it must’ve felt to witness the passing of carriage shops upon the advent of the car.
